What does the Bible say about cremation?
No verse in the Bible commands or forbids cremation. Burial was the normal practice in Israel and the early church, from Abraham burying Sarah to the burial of Jesus.
Burning a body appears only a few times, mostly as judgment (Achan, the king of Edom) or in an emergency (the men of Jabesh-gilead burning Saul’s body). Christians who prefer burial point to that pattern; those who accept cremation point to God’s power to raise the dead whatever happens to the body.

So will it be with the resurrection of the dead: What is sown is perishable; it is raised imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.
